YES! Every culture in the world has a beloved dumpling: from the wontons and shumai of China, to pierogies and pelmeni in eastern Europe, ravioli and tortellini from Italy, empanadas from Argentina, samosas from India and Pakistan, all the way to the apple dumplings, hand pies and chicken & dumplings in the New World. Everyone on earth has a dumpling that’s close to their heart and Dumpling Fest will be the only place on earth where guests can experience all of them at once.
And Hip hop?
We think there’s no better music to enjoy dumplings by than 90s hip hop. So, we’ll be exploring the intersection of culinary and musical creativity. DJRC, the official DJ of Dumpling Fest, will spin awesome rap tunes throughout the event.

When is Dumpling Fest: Wrappers Delight?
Our first event happened on Saturday October 15 from 12 noon to 3:00PM! Venue: AceBounce Ping Pong at 230 North Clark Street.
What happened there?
An all-star lineup of incredible chefs will share creative and delicious dumplings from around the world to a bevy of adoring foodies. Beer and cocktails will flow.
When 16 top chefs get together to share tasty dumplings, America wins. We did give out some additional prizes however - the Dumpling d'Or awards. Our panel of judges chose Lost Lake's Piggy Gets Lost in a Lake of Hot Pot as their #1 dish, just edging out Le Bouchon's pike quenelles and short rib dumplings. The people spoke too, voting their favorite dumpling a People's Choice award - Shanghai Terrace took home the trophy for their Lobster-Chicken dumpling with truffle pate and tobiko. People's Choice runner-up went to Lockwood's Bacon and Egg dumpling.
What was included in the cost of admission?
For $50, guests got all the dumplings they could eat from our exhibiting restaurants, three beers from Goose Island and a paired cocktail from Lost Lake, water & phat beats from the official DJ of Dumpling Fest - DJRC! Plus, ping pong tables were available for them to challenge theirr frenemies to a heated round of table tennis, care of our hosts, AceBounce.
Who was there?
We assembled a roster of amazing chefs (below) to create and serve dumplings from every corner of the globe. Ravioli, potstickers, pierogi, apple dumplings, empanadas - all the dumplings, prepared by an all-star line-up of Chicago's best restaurants. Is there a charity involved?
Yes - a portion of proceeds were donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. We are eager to expand on the charitable impact of Baconfest Chicago, which, to date, has donated more than $340,000 to the Food Bank, resulting in 1.1 million meals for hungry Chicagoans.
